One of the more traditional Halloween costume accessories is a simple crown. Whether you are a princess, lord or lady, queen of the elves or a nymph a crown must reflect details about who you are portraying.
Here are some great crown ideas for your next Halloween adventure.
1. Stick and stones may break some bones, but they make fabulous crowns for woodland princesses. Using sticks wrapped with ivy you can fashion a delightful outdoorsy crown that tells everyone about your affinity for the great outdoors.
2. Paper crowns can be lacy, glittery or made from delicate tissue paper. I love a well layered crown with different kinds of paper textures. I suggest using a cardboard or poster board base and gluing or painting the base before adding glitter, tissue paper or delicate paper lace.
3. Flower crowns are perfect for faeries. Daisy chains, roses or simple lavender stocks tied together are a sweet addition to any costume.
4. Paint chips from your local hardware store make for colorful crowns. You can cut fake jewels from them or glue the squares next to each other. This is a perfect crown for the modern queen.
If you like traditional jeweled crowns you can easily find them on some of my favorite costume websites. You’re only a google search away from whatever crown you’re looking for. Some have fur, some have jewels or elaborate velvet settings. There are plenty of options for everyone, so don’t worry, you’ll find something that suits your unique look.
